Do you choose to play or defend??
In 1947, an entertaining bridge book named Right Through the Pack was written by Robert Darvas and Norman Hart. This delightful collection of 52 hands has remained on the list of top ten bridge books ever since. The authors decided to have each card in the deck tell a tale of its adventures and outline its role in a single hand, speaking in their own words.
In 2006, modern-day writer Julian Pottage duplicated this novel approach, with a great deal of success, in a book called Back Through the Pack. Since Julian included two hands from each card, you will be getting two for the price of one if you latch on to a copy.
This months hand is from that book, and has a great deal of educational value. Decide whether you think the defenders or the declarer should triumph, click here to check your answer. It may help you to solve the problem if you can figure out which of the 52 cards is telling this tale! (Ill give you a hint: its not one of the high cards!)
